Frequently Asked Questions About Coaching

  • All of our one-on-one coaching sessions are done virtually over Zoom and clients can be located anywhere in the world.

We have put in great effort to ensure that the demonstration, facilitation and interaction during our online video coaching sessions are easy to understand and foster a sense of connection. These sessions are also encrypted to ensure privacy for all participants.

For these video-based sessions, you will need access to a computer or smartphone, a microphone and speaker, and a private spot where you can talk safely without interruption.

  • Absolutely! The wonderful thing about this type of coaching is that clients can achieve insights in themselves and their lives from art-making without needing any artistic skill whatsoever.

Essentially, if your mind brings forth the image of a “cat” as part of an exercise, it doesn’t matter how well you believe you’re able to draw that cat. As long as you know what you intended to draw, that’s all that matters.

Also, the amount of art-making within the session may fluctuate from session-to-session and client-to-client. It’s always about finding the right method of self-expression that will have the greatest benefit for the client’s coaching journey.

  • A typical session makes use of the most basic art-making tools such as plain paper, pens or pencils. The client may also choose to bring in other supplies from their collection such as markers, pencil crayons or paints.

The client and the coach may also decide together to try a more elaborate art-making project for a future session. The art supplies for this project would be agreed upon prior to the session with ample time for the client to purchase or pull together the supplies.

  • Sessions are 60min long. For new clients, I recommend having sessions every two weeks to give sufficient time between sessions to work on what has been discussed. This cadence however is flexible based on the needs of the client and where they happen to be in their journey.

  • We are endeavouring to keep all our services affordable and hope to introduce more people to the value of art-making and creativity in their day-to-day lives.

    Individual 60-minute session fee: $125

A package of six sessions can be purchased together for $600

Sadly, neither creativity coaching nor creative life coaching sessions are covered under extended health benefits.

(For those with a 2023 Alcove Community Card, we are offering 20% off your first three sessions. These three sessions must be booked within two consecutive months to qualify for the discount.)

  • While the tools and methodologies are similar between the two, for our purposes the difference comes from the desired outcomes:

Creativity Coaching is about guiding an individual through re-discovering an old creative practice or creating a new one from scratch. (e.g. overcoming one’s inner critic to allow for more joy in art-making) .

Creative Life Coaching uses both life coaching techniques and art-making as a means to seek insights into the issues of everyday life, (e.g. discovering what is needed for better work-life balance.)

Also, if you begin with one set of goals, but find that you’re coaching journey takes you in another direction, that’s perfectly okay too! Clients are more than welcome to shift streams as their path forward evolves.

  • We recognize that people often have a complicated relationship with creativity and art-making and that might make them uncertain as to whether this type of coaching will be a good fit for them. If you’d like to learn more, please consider booking a free 30 minute phone or video consultation. We can chat further about the process, your goals, and any questions that you might have such as how these sessions are done over Zoom.

If, after your free 30-minute consultation, you find yourself excited to get your hands on some art supplies and start your journey, we would be happy to book your first session. If not, there is no obligation to proceed any further—no questions asked.
